President of Latvia Egils Levits launched his working visit to the United States on 19 September with a meeting with students, teachers and graduates of the New Jersey Latvian school. He congratulated them on the 70th anniversary for the school. ‘Latvian schools outside Latvia have historically been and still are a big part of our culture and national policies. Thank you for everything that you do!” Egils Levits said.
He also took the opportunity to present the Class IV Order of the Three Stars to Jānis Lucs for his charitable efforts and public work.
The First Lady Mrs Andra Levite meanwhile met with up and coming Latvians working or studying in New York.
