Valsts prezidents sarunā ar Bauskas 2. vidusskolas skolēniem: politika skolas gados sākas ar dalību skolēnu pašpārvaldēs un vēlmi uzlabot dažādus jautājumus
Today, President of Latvia Egils Levits visited the Bauska 2nd Secondary School and discussed the essence and role of politics in promoting national agenda and common good of the people with upper secondary school students.

‘During school years political activism starts with student councils and keeping your eyes open on life to notice what can be done better,’ stressed the President.

Discussion also touched upon how democratic governance system works and morals of public officials who work for the government.

President also met with school administration, parent council and student council representatives to discuss their experiences in implementing School2030, skills-based learning curriculum and cross-fertilisation in social integration processes. School switched to official language only education in 2000. This transition was initiated by parents of children.

President Levits thanked school for its innovative methods of teaching, honing the talents of children through student-centred approach and nurturing shared values. Vera Grigorjeva, the Headmaster of Bauska 2nd Secondary School, emphasised: ‘We can build a more cohesive society by embracing the cultural diversity of all ethnic groups living in Latvia.’
