While meeting with the President of Moldova Igor Dodon, President of Latvia Egils Levits urged Moldova to continue its European integration and offered Latvia’s expertise. President of Moldova confirmed that Moldova will continue to build a close partnership with the European Union (EU). President Dodon also updated President Levits on the progress of negotiations on ‘road map’ to resolving Trans-Dniester conflict.
The key focus of the bilateral meeting with the President of Austria Alexander Van der Bellen was climate change. President Levits underlined that Latvia is ready to join Austria’s Initiative for more Climate Ambition and reiterated that Latvia is among the eight ambitious EU member states calling for faster progress towards climate-neutral economy.
Today, President of Latvia Egils Levits will also take part in the World Economic Forum High-level Round-table Discussion ‘A New Green Deal for Europe - Stepping Up Europe's Global Leadership Role on Climate and Green Growth’ and together with the First Lady Andra Levita attend the opening of the exhibition ‘Vija Celmiņš: To Fix the Image in Memory’ at the Breuer Museum.
