The 28th session of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28) will take place this year from 30 November to 12 December in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. COP28 will bring together the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), including the European Union (EU) and all EU Member States. Delegations from around 150 countries are expected to attend.
COP28 will examine progress in meeting the commitments under the Paris Agreement, namely the goal of limiting global warming to well below 2º C above pre-industrial levels and continuing efforts to limit it to 1.5º C.
COP28 is the most ambitious global forum on climate change. It is held annually to bring parties together to agree on the way forward to tackle climate change, limit emissions and stop global warming.
