Kristīne Līce has represented Latvia at the European Court of Human Rights since May 2012, and since June 2019 she has also been the Director of the Legal Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and since June 2022 – the Head of the Legal Directorate of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. From 2021, Kristīne Līce was elected Chair of the Council of Europe's Human Rights Coordination Committee for two years.
Kristīne Līce joined the Foreign Service in 1994 as a Specialist in the International Law Division. She later became Head of the International Law Division and then worked at the Permanent Missions of Latvia to the UN in Geneva and New York.
Kristīne Līce holds a law degree from the University of Latvia, and has furthered her studies at Oxford University's Diplomacy Studies Programme.
