The President of Latvia noted that achievements of athletes at the most ambitious competition among the Baltic athletic teams inspired everyone not to rest on their laurels, but to set and achieve new goals repeatedly.
Raimonds Vējonis thanked the City of Valmiera and the Latvian Athletic Association for their contribution to the organisation of the competition.
During the event, Raimonds Vējonis presented the President’s Cup for the best performance in the individual assessment to javelin thrower Ms Madara Palameika (Latvia) and javelin thrower Mr Magnus Kirt (Estonia). In its turn, the Latvian National Athletic Team won the President’s Cup in the team assessment, as well as among men and among women.
This year’s competition for the President’s Cup in track and field athletics took place for the twenty-third time on June 10 and 11 at the J. Daliņš Stadium in Valmiera.
