On 12-14 April, President of Latvia Egils Levits will pay a state visit to the Republic of Portugal, where he will meet with H.E. Mr Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, President of Portugal, to discuss current European challenges and closer cooperation between the two countries.
E. Levits also plans to hold talks with H.E. Mr João Gomes Cravinho, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Portugal, Mr Augusto Santos Silva, Speaker of the Portuguese Parliament, and Mr Carlos Moedas, Mayor of Lisbon.
During the visit, the presidents of Latvia and Portugal will visit the Champalimaud Foundation for Biomedical Research, where a Memorandum of understanding will be signed between the Foundation, Rīga Stradiņš University, Pauls Stradiņš Clinical University Hospital and Rīga Technical University.
The presidents of the two countries will also address the Latvia-Portugal Business Forum. More than 40 representatives of various companies will accompany E. Levits on his visit.
President of Latvia Egils Levits will visit Evora, which, together with Liepāja in Latvia, is the European Capital of Culture for 2027. During the visit, in the presence of the President of Latvia, the mayors of Evora and Liepāja will sign a Memorandum of understanding on cooperation.
During his state visit, E. Levits will also meet with Latvians living in Portugal.
The Minister of Environmental Protection and Regional Development Māris Sprindžuks, the Chairman of Liepāja City Council Gunārs Ansiņš and the Director of the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia Kaspars Rožkalns will also accompany the President on his visit.
