Raimonds Vējonis
To discuss the current challenges in Europe, President of Latvia Raimonds Vējonis and nine Presidents of European countries will meet at an annual informal meeting of the Arraiolos Group, which is held on September 14 and 15 in Plovdiv and Sofia, Bulgaria.

Panel discussions are planned during the presidential meeting, where they will talk about possibilities of increasing confidence in the European Union under the conditions of increasing risks and unstable international agenda, historic transformation of the Balkan region and other topical issues.

During the meeting, President of Latvia Raimonds Vējonis will also meet with President of Italy Sergio Mattarello. During a bilateral meeting, they will discuss bilateral relations and implementation process of the decisions made at the NATO Summit in Warsaw.

Arraiolos group is an informal convention of President of the EU Member States. Traditionally, Presidents of parliamentary republics participate in meetings, who are not bound to the executive functions. The first meeting of the group was held in a Portuguese town of Arraiolos upon the incentive of Jorge Sampaio, then the President of Portugal, in 2003. President of Bulgaria, Germany, Poland, Hungary, Slovenia, Latvia, Portugal, Finland, Italy, and Malta will participate in the meeting this year.
