Valsts prezidents novēl Latvijas olimpiešiem cīnīties par uzvarām
President of Latvia Raimonds Vejonis emphasised that fair competition for victory was crucial in sports during the presentation event of the Latvian Olympic team to the Winter Olympics in PyeongChang, South Korea, on Monday, January 29. The President of Latvia wished the Latvian Olympic athletes to compete for victories with the greatest self-loading to achieve individually set goals.

Raimonds Vējonis acknowledged that Latvia was considered a great country of winter sports because we had both talented and strong athletes and skilled technical specialists who helped the athletes in preparing for the start.

The President of Latvia handed over the Centenary flag of Latvia to the Latvian Olympic team, which had travelled to the Latvians around the world during the previous year. “This flag has accumulated a huge amount of positive energy, which is very necessary for you,” said Raimonds Vējonis. He wished that the flag of Latvia would fly high in PyeongChang and that the anthem of Latvia would be performed as often as possible.
