Raimonds Vējonis
President of Latvia Raimonds Vējonis and First Lady of Latvia Iveta Vējone will pay a state visit to Georgia from March 27 to March 30. The visit is aimed at strengthening the bilateral relations between Latvia and Georgia, and Georgia’s cooperation with the European Union and the NATO.

 

During the visit, the President of Latvia will have a bilateral meeting with President of Georgia Giorgi Margvelashvili and the Speaker of Parliament of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze on Tuesday.

 

There will be several industries and association co-operation agreements signed in Tbilisi, including the agreements regarding border guard, export, the attraction of investment, information technology, and education.

 

Raimonds Vējonis will also meet with the representatives of Latvia engaged in the EU monitoring mission that assists in ensuring stability in the areas close to South Ossetia and Abkhazia.

 

During the state visit, there will be a solemn flower-laying ceremony at the Heroes’ Square in Tbilisi. Raimonds Vējonis will also meet with compatriots living in Georgia, and he will attend a friendly match between the Latvian and Georgian national football teams in the evening on March 28.
