During the visit, the President of Latvia intends to meet with the Chairperson of the Bauska Regional Council Raitis Ābelnieks, councillors of the Bauska Regional Council, and representatives of the local government administration.
The President of Latvia will visit the Uzvara Secondary School, where he will meet with teachers and pupils. Due to the reorganization of the school network, the school will be transformed into a primary school in 2018.
To discuss the issues businesses are interested in, the President of Latvia will meet with entrepreneurs from the Bauska Region as well as visit the dairy company, Baltic Dairy Board Ltd, which is among the largest and fastest growing enterprises in the region.
Visiting recreation centre Miķelis is also planned, which belongs to the largest agricultural establishment in Latvia, Uzvara lauks Ltd.
During the second half of the day, the President of Latvia will visit Mūsa racetrack, which has resumed work after several years of disruption.
At the end of the regional working visit, the President of Latvia will meet with the residents of the region to discuss the most urgent issues that are significant for the local government.
Meanwhile, First Lady of Latvia Iveta Vējone will visit the Social Service of Bauska Region and the newly established Hygiene Center. She will visit a branch of pre-school educational institution Zīlīte, as well as meet with the youth in the Bauska Children and Youth Center. At the end of the visit, the First Lady of Latvia, who is the patroness of the SOS Children's Villages, will visit the SOS Children's Village in Īslīce.
