President Levits’ official visit to Sweden on 20–22 June is aligned with 100th anniversary of de iure diplomatic relations between Latvia and Sweden and 30 years since re-establishment of diplomatic ties following the restoration of Latvia’s national independence. President of Latvia will have an audience with King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden, Speaker of Riksdag Andreas Norlén and Prime Minister Stefan Löfven. He will also meet with Chair of the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute’s Governing Board Janu Eliasson, Swedish entrepreneurs and Latvian diaspora.
President of Latvia intends to visit the exhibition focusing on centenary of Latvia–Sweden de iure diplomatic relations at the National Archives of Sweden and Royal Library of Sweden. He will also go to the oldest university in Sweden, Uppsala, where he will address the students on democracy in the era of digitalisation and take part in the inauguration of Uppsala University Library project for digitalisation of 16th century Riga Jesuit Library collection. President will then sign a Memorandum of Cooperation with Uppsala University Hospital Department of Immunology, Genetics and Pathology and Stockholm Karolinska institute.
