The Three Seas Initiative (Adriatic Sea, Baltic Sea, and the Black Sea) is an informal platform aimed at developing closer cooperation among the countries in energy, transport, business promotion, and digital communication. The Initiative aims to strengthen political ties between the countries, to develop cross-border cooperation in the region, and to implement macro-regional projects. It particularly emphasises the importance of attracting investment to regional infrastructure and economic projects.

The Three Seas Initiative engages 12 EU countries geographically located between the Adriatic Sea, the Baltic Sea, and the Black Sea: Austria, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Croatia, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, and Hungary. The informal platform is designed to provide political support for the implementation of transnational and regional projects and thus contribute to building a united, secure, and competitive Europe.
