Raimonds Vējonis
President of Latvia Raimonds Vējonis will pay a working visit to Brussels on May 25 and 26 to participate in the NATO Summit for the Heads of State and Government.

At the Summit, the leaders of the NATO Member States will discuss the increased defence spending of the allies and greater engagement of the NATO in combating terrorism.

Before the meeting, the President of Latvia indicates that the consensus among the European and North American allies is important for Latvia in strengthening defence ability. These capabilities must meet the challenges of the 21st century, including the strengthening of cyber defence and strategic communications.

Moreover, Raimonds Vējonis reminds that the Latvia’s interest is that the issue of the defence spending would be recognised as very significant at the Summit once again.
