Egils Levits’ visit to Piebalga as one of the historic and cultural regions is another event in a series of discussions on historical and cultural Latvian lands hosted by President to draft legislative proposal that will be submitted to the Saeima in autumn. President Levits will host a discussion on identity and development of Piebalga at the Vecpiebalga Culture Centre. Other panellists will include Indriķis Putniņš, Chair of the Vecpiebalga Regional Council, Arnis Pooks, Chairman of the Board, Finnish Chamber of Commerce in Latvia, Ingūna Elere, co-owner, H2E Design Studio, Vēsma Johansone, Director of Jaunpiebalga Local History Museum, and Normunds Brēmers, owner of Wenden furniture, a company operating in Jaunpiebalga region. Discussion will be live streamed on President’s YouTube channel (presidentlv), web-page www.president.lv and President’s social media accounts, such as Facebook (egilslevitslv) and Twitter (@Rigas_pils).
While visiting Vecpiebalga, President Levits will meet with owners of Piebalga Porcelain Factory, Gardenia Eco candle factory and bee cosmetics producer SIA ApiMI. He will also tour the Vecpiebalga Manor Park.
Jaunpiebalga part of President Levits’ visit will start at Emīls Dārziņš and Jānis Sudrabkalns Memorial Museum Jāņaskola and continue with Jaunpiebalga Music and Art School, Saint Thomas Evangelical Lutheran Church of Jaunpiebalga and Jaunpiebalga Arts and crafts studio Piebaldzēni. President will also meet with owner of Mazvieķi farm.
Piebalga is one of Latvia’s historic and cultural regions located in central part of Vidzeme. Today its territory is comprised of Vecpiebalga and Jaunpiebalga regions.
