President plans to meet with country’s top officials: H.E. Borut Pahor, President of the Republic of Slovenia, and H.E. Igor Zorčič, President of the National Assembly of Slovenia.
To express gratitude to Slovenia for contributing its troops to NATO enhanced Forward Presence Group Latvia since its inception in 2017, President of Latvia will visit the Slovenian 10eFP base.
Egils Levits and his Slovenian counterpart will also take part in European Youth Dialogue “Let’s Talk about Europe”. Slovenia holds the Presidency of the Council of the European Union since 1 July 2021.
President will visit the leading Slovenian scientific research institute Jožef Stefan Institute where he will take part in a discussion about artificial intelligence development opportunities and potential threats. He will witness the signing of a memorandum between the Institute and Latvian language technology company “Tilde”.
While visiting the National Institute of Public Health of the Republic of Slovenia, Egils Levits will meet with researchers and attend the signing of agreement for academic cooperation between the National Institute of Public Health of the Republic of Slovenia, Slovenian Association for Gastroenterology and Hepatology and University of Latvia.
President Levits will also go to Herman Potočnik Noordung Centre of Space Technologies where he will take part in expert discussion on high technologies.
President of Latvia will be accompanied on this trip by Mrs Andra Levite. She intends to visit Gynaecological and Maternity Hospital Postojna and discuss Latvia’s possible participation in the international initiative “United Growing Books of the World” with its coordinator Janez Gabrijelčič at the Navje Memorial Park.
