“The Nobel Peace Prize laureate Shimon Peres has played a very important role in the peace process of the Middle East and building of the State of Israel. Shimon Peres will remain in our memory as an outstanding statesman, an inspirer for peace efforts and a friend of Latvia,” stated the President of Latvia.
Raimonds Vējonis sent an official letter to President of Israel Reuven Rivlin, expressing condolences to the people of Israel due to the death of the great politician.
Shimon Peres has contributed in bilateral relations of Latvia and Israel by paying his historic visit to Latvia in July 2013.
