On 22 January, President Edgars Rinkēvičs visited Olaine Region. During his visit, E. Rinkēvičs met with the leadership of Olaine Municipality, got acquainted with the work of the Riga Regional Administration of the State Police, Southern Precinct of the Riga Region in Olaine, visited Olaine History and Art Museum, Olaine Secondary School No.1, as well as companies based in Olaine’s "Nordic Industrial Park" and Olaine Youth Centre "Popkorns".
"Olaine has a highly-developed infrastructure and a well-maintained environment, which I know until recently was a challenge for the municipality and its residents. Today, I was able to see for myself that the promising geographical location of the municipality facilitates the effective development of business, transit and quality services sectors. A prime example of that is the diverse range of Olaine-based companies, which export their products to more than 60 countries across all continents of the world. Additionally, I am pleased to see the active engagement of young people at Olaine Municipality. With the support of the Youth Centre, they collaborate with their peers and come together to implement their ideas, thereby promoting participation in decision-making and public life in the vibrant Olaine region," said President of Latvia E. Rinkēvičs after his visit.
During the visit, the President of Latvia became acquainted with the activities of “Bapeks” Ltd, a company producing raw materials for pharmaceutical research, “Atlas Premium” Ltd, a fish processing company, “Dinair Filton” Ltd, a company manufacturing air filters, and “Smalkais muslis” Ltd, a food production company. President Rinkēvičs also visited a chemical production company “CrossChem “Ltd.
The President of Latvia also visited the Olaine History and Art Museum to view the exhibition "Laboratory", which won the Latvian Museum Association’s Annual Award in the category "Exhibition of the Year 2020".
