During a meeting with the management and scientists of the Latvian State Forest Research Institute "Silava", President E. Rinkēvičs expressed his appreciation for the Institute's valuable research work in the forestry sector. "In the context of climate change, science and research in the forestry sector play a particularly important role. Forests should not be viewed solely as a resource extraction site. The changes needed for the sustainable development of forests and related industries must be driven by science," the President said after the meeting.
During his visit to Salaspils Region, President E. Rinkēvičs had the opportunity to learn about the local business environment and its current events. He visited several companies, including "Salaspils Siltums", a district heating company, "Consolis Latvija", one of the leading suppliers of reinforced concrete structures and solutions in Latvia, and "Dižozols plus", a design furniture manufacturer.
President E. Rinkēvičs had a meeting with young people from the European Parliament Ambassador School at Salaspils High School No. 1. The President expressed his satisfaction with the young people's resolute attitude towards engaging with issues that are significant to them and their fellow citizens. He appreciated their care for the future of both themselves and their country from an early age.
As part of his working visit, the President of Latvia also visited "Botania" environmental education centre located at the Salaspils National Botanical Garden. The centre offers a range of interactive learning opportunities focused on plants and nature values.
