Today, President of Latvia Egils Levits had a virtual meeting with founders and editors of new culture media “Žoklis” (Jaws) and “Tvērums” (Scope). These magazines are the a co-creation of young philosophers, poets and artists.
Editorial teams of both magazines presented the mission and short-term plans of their media. President Levits thanked culture media for courage to join the media market and making intellectual debate in Latvia richer. ‘If we want to become a developed nation capable of having a nuanced debate on intellectually important topics in Latvian, we need to encourage debate on a broad range of topics, and your content is very much welcome in this regard. Thank you!’ said Egils Levits.
Creators behind the literature and art magazine “Žoklis” include poets Raimonds Ķirķis, Rihards Raudonis and Marija Luīze Meļķe who is also responsible for the visual identity of the magazine, while magazine “Tvērums” editorial team consists of Toms Babincevs, Sofija Anna Kozlova, Emīls Zavelis and Rinalds Onckulis.
