Egils Levits thanked Uga Dumpis and Jurijs Perevoščikovs for their expert assistance and evidence-based advice. President also said he is happy that politicians took the expert advice. He underlined that Latvia is among those countries of the world which have been affected by the outbreak of Coronavirus disease Covid-19 least, and experts have played a major role in ensuring efficient response.

President and virologists discussed the latest information about control and containment of virus. Everyone agreed that we will have to live with existing restrictions for a while and compared to most other countries restrictions imposed by Latvia are a very mild. Nevertheless, a discussion on precise public health and safety guidelines should start now, so that everyone is ready for the easing of restrictions.

Egils Levits thanked CDCP which is already working on specific guidelines covering various topics to let people know how to safeguard themselves when restrictions are loosened.
