On 4 March, President Edgars Rinkēvičs visited Riga Teika Secondary School to meet with students, learn about issues important to young people, and answer their questions.
During the meeting, the President discussed various subjects, including further study opportunities, the use of artificial intelligence in education, youth participation in politics, as well as international security and geopolitical issues.
As part of the visit, the President was introduced to student-run enterprises "Disten," "PocketBand," "Lightful," "Frucorium," and "Arcus." The students presented their self-developed products, designed with environmental sustainability and the principles of the circular economy in mind. These included clothing made from recycled materials with unique designs, sports headbands and bracelets, plant-based artificial leather products, and natural scented candles. Additionally, the young people informed the President about the current activities of the student council and shared their academic and extracurricular achievements.
“At Riga Teika Secondary School, young people experience firsthand what it truly means to be an entrepreneur – establishing a company, creating, producing, and selling goods in a real-world environment. Such experience and skills are invaluable in any profession. I wish these bold and enterprising young people successful trading and engaged customers at the annual spring student business event Cits Bazārs, taking place on 8 March this year and beyond. The students of Riga Teika Secondary School are versatile – excelling in various talent competitions, ranking among the most athletic in Riga, expressing their creativity through the arts, and actively participating in public life. A special thank you goes to the students, their families, and the school staff for their contributions to the “Baltic Schools for Victory” initiative in support of Ukrainian soldiers and children. It is truly heartening to see the kindness of young people and their willingness to help those in need,” said President Rinkēvičs.
