"The Defence Academy prepares officers for service in the National Armed Forces. These individuals will be responsible for our country's external security and cooperation with our allies in the years to come, serving in the land forces, navy, or air force. The National Armed Forces rely heavily on quality military training and an elite officer corps, making the Defence Academy a crucial development centre and the backbone of the armed forces," said President E. Rinkēvičs during his visit.
The President of Latvia acknowledged the National Armed Forces Training Command's contribution to the training of Ukrainian soldiers. He emphasised that it is equally important to transfer the experience and lessons gathered by Ukrainian soldiers to the training of Latvian soldiers.
During the visit, the President of Latvia met with the cadets of the Defence Academy, and familiarised himself with the training and catering facilities.
