On 4 August the President Edgars Rinkēvičs visited Valmiera Municipality. The President of Latvia started his working visit with a visit to Rūjiena, where he met with the teachers and youth of Rūjiena Secondary School and visited an ice-cream factory.
'The dynamic Valmiera Region with its economic and social life is a good example for other municipalities. Today I had the opportunity to see that with very active, purposeful and thoughtful work the Valmiera Municipality is trying to provide its residents and entrepreneurs with a predictable environment, safe and favourable conditions for living and growth in Valmiera Municipality, its parishes and towns,' said President E. Rinkēvičs.
The President of Latvia also visited Kocēni parish and the State City of Valmiera, where he met with representatives of various enterprises, got acquainted with the work of Valmiera municipality and visited the representative office of the Ukrainian Association of Small Cities. At the end of his visit, E. Rinkēvičs saw the 'de Woldemer' exhibition at the Valmiera Castle Cultural and Environmental Centre and attended the opening of the Valmiera Summer Theatre Festival.
