Valsts prezidents: Ukraina ir svarīga visas Eiropas stabilitātei un drošībai
“Latvia supports Ukraine on its way of reforms that are essential for the country. Ukraine is the key for stability and security of entire Europe,” stated President of Latvia Raimonds Vējonis during his meeting with Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman in the Riga Castle today.

Despite the difficult situation in the country, Ukraine has embarked on reforms in education, pensions, and healthcare. “We know that reforms are not easy in any country. We call on Ukraine to implement the changes that have begun because they are primarily important for the people of Ukraine,” noted Raimonds Vējonis.

Ukraine is a major partner in economic and trade cooperation with Latvia. There is potential for closer cooperation in pharmaceuticals, agriculture, transport and logistics as well as information technology. Latvia appreciates Ukraine’s progress in improving the business environment and calls for continued work.

The President of Latvia expressed strong support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, noting that Latvia did not recognize the illegal annexation of Crimea. “It is important to find a peaceful, long-term solution to the conflict in eastern Ukraine respecting the principle of territorial integrity of Ukraine,” outlined Raimonds Vējonis.
