On 4 December, President Edgars Rinkēvičs met with the President of the Slovak Republic, Peter Pellegrini, at the Riga Castle to discuss bilateral cooperation between Latvia and Slovakia, as well as regional security, support to Ukraine and issues related to transatlantic relations.
President Rinkēvičs thanked Slovakia for its significant contribution to strengthening Latvia’s security by ensuring the participation of representatives of the Slovak Armed Forces in the NATO Multinational Brigade in Latvia. "The participation of the Slovak contingent in the NATO Multinational Brigade in Latvia strengthens the deterrence and defence capabilities of the entire NATO’s eastern flank. This was recently demonstrated by the NATO Multinational Brigade Latvia exercise "Resolute Warrior 2024", which showcased the allies' ability to work together effectively in a combat situation," said E. Rinkēvičs.
Furthermore, the President of the Slovak Republic will visit the Slovak contingent of the NATO Multinational Brigade currently stationed in Latvia.
