On 15 June, President of Latvia Egils Levits visited Belgian army Kleine Brogel Air Base in scope of his working visit to Belgium. President Levits praised Belgium for its contribution to NATO Baltic Air-Policing mission and thanked all Belgian pilots in the mission.
Egils Levits stressed that NATO is designed to guarantee security through solidarity between its member states.
President of Latvia said he is very pleased with the historic NATO Brussels Summit, which concluded yesterday, because Alliance’s member states agreed on the new NATO2030 strategic concept that will help Alliance adjust to modern global security challenges. Egils Levits also mentioned the enormous value of transatlantic links for NATO and praised US President Joe Biden for confirming USA’s firm and continued commitment to strengthening of transatlantic links and security of the Alliance during yesterday’s meetings with European Union member states, which also include Baltic countries.
