Egils Levits pointed out that Latvia highly values the fruitful bilateral relations with Slovakia. ‘We are two like-minded countries with the same challenges and future aspirations,’ said the President of Latvia. On behalf of Latvia, he thanked Slovakia for its contribution to stronger security of Latvia and the NATO enhanced Forward Presence battle group Latvia which is deployed here to strengthen the security of the whole Baltic region. Prime Minister Pellegrini underlined that, as a member of the Alliance, it is Slovakia’s obligation and also a great source of pride to engage in strengthening of the collective security of NATO with 152-men strong contingent.
Egils Levits and Peter Pellegrini also discussed the current EU agenda. President and Prime Minister praised Latvia and Slovakia for championing the climate neutrality by 2050 together with other progressive member states. Egils Levits and Peter Pellegrini also touched upon growth in Latvia and Slovakia, as well as modernisation and sustainability.
Cooperation in the framework of the UN was also discussed.
