On 18 June, President of Latvia Egils Levits took part in the inauguration of Sabile Art, Culture and Tourism Centre. He thanked everyone who made this wonderful idea possible.
This is what the President of Latvia had to say in his message to the new culture location: ‘Latvia’s bubbling and diverse creative and culture life has today acquired a ned and important asset, the Sabile Art, Culture and Tourism Centre. The core of this new culture centre revolves around beautiful Kurzeme landscapes, ancient images and contemporary art.’
In his address Egils Levits said: ‘Sabile has its own special style. You can see its long history as you pass through. It has rich history and people who can still retell the accounts. This building, a former synagogue, is part of those stories. This synagogue has now acquired a new life as a culture and arts centre. A local community centre and also a place where artists and art lovers from near and far come together to enjoy art.’
Wishing lots of creativity and good luck in furthering our culture, President of Latvia also expressed hope that Pedvāle Art and Terrain Park and Wine Hills Centre will make Sabile a popular destination with travellers of all sorts.
