On 11 April, President Edgars Rinkēvičs participated in the annual Three Seas Initiative Summit in Vilnius, Lithuania.
During his address, the President of Latvia highlighted the significance of the Three Seas Initiative in promoting regional economic growth, security, and resilience. E. Rinkēvičs stressed the importance of enhancing resilience to hybrid threats and cyberattacks, particularly by protecting the critical infrastructure of the region against malicious attacks. At the same time, the President emphasized the significance of investing in transport infrastructure in the long term, including the promotion of military mobility.
During the summit, E. Rinkēvičs met with the President of Romania, Mr Klaus Werner Iohannis, and the new President of Hungary, Mr Tamás Sulyok. The President of Latvia expressed his gratitude to Romania and Hungary for their support in enhancing the security of the Baltic region and discussed preparations for the upcoming NATO Summit in Washington.
