Egils Levits
Valsts prezidents: LELBĀL reģistrācija Latvijā atbilstu remigrācijas politikas nostādnēm
Today, the President of Latvia Egils Levits met with Archbishop of Latvian Evangelical Lutheran Church Abroad (LELCA), Mrs Lauma Zušēvica, in the Riga Castle to discuss the current priorities of the Latvian Evangelical Lutheran congregations in the world.

Archbishop Zušēvica informed Egils Levits about the meeting with Minster for Justice Jānis Bordāns in which Minister Bordāns confirmed that a working group will be established to sort out the registration of LELCA in Latvia.

President Levits underlined that he is convinced that the registration of LELCA in Latvia would conform with the re-emigration policy given the active role of LELCA in the life of Latvian diaspora and strengthening of its bond with Latvia. Archbishop Zušēvica echoed Egils Levits' previous comments about LELCA and Latvian Evangelical Lutheran Church being 'two branches of the same tree' that have grown from the same roots and developed into two theological schools with different views on some issues.

President and Archbishop also discussed various charity projects implemented by the Latvian Evangelical Lutheran Church congregations abroad and in Latvia.
