On 9 July, at Riga Castle, President of Latvia Edgars Rinkēvičs met with the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk, President of the German Bundestag Bärbel Bas, Marshal of the Polish Sejm Elżbieta Barbara Witek, Speaker of the Lithuanian Seimas Viktorija Čmilytė-Nielsen and President of the Estonian Parliament (Riigikogu) Lauri Hussar. During their meeting, the officials discussed the security situation in the region, the forthcoming NATO summit in Vilnius and the need to continue all forms of support to Ukraine, including in the parliamentary dimension.
President Rinkēvičs assured that Latvian State and its people would continue to stand by Ukraine and support it in the fight against Russian aggression for as long as necessary.
