During his working visit, President of Latvia Raimonds Vējonis will meet with Federal President of Austria Dr Alexander Van der Bellen at his residence in Vienna on May 27. At the embassy of the Republic of Latvia in Vienna, the President of Latvia will meet with compatriots in Austria and honorary consuls of Latvia in Austria. At the end of the day, Raimonds Vējonis will take part in a dinner hosted by Federal Chancellor of Austria Sebastian Kurz.
“Climate change is still one of the biggest risks to geopolitical stability. Latvia and Austria share close bilateral relations and determination to face the challenges caused by climate change, including by implementing the Paris Agreement,” indicated President of Latvia Raimonds Vējonis.
On Tuesday, May 28, President of Latvia Raimonds Vējonis will participate in the International Climate Summit “R20 Austrian World Summit” (R20 Summit). The Summit aims at seeking solutions and sharing experiences with measures already in place to achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals and global climate protection objectives under the Paris Agreement. During R20 Summit, the President of Latvia will participate in the first discussion panel of the working session “Rising Ambition for Climate Action”, as well as the round-table discussion organised by Federal President of Austria Dr Alexander van der Bellen to the leaders of R20 Summit.
