At the beginning of the day, the President of Latvia and First Lady of Latvia Iveta Vējone will participate in the cleaning of the memorial site of Zigfrīds Anna Meierovics in Sēme Rural District of Tukums Region, as well as in the improvement of the memorial trail devoted to Z.A. Meierovics. The President of Latvia and the First Lady of Latvia will then go to Tukums, where the President of Latvia will plant a tree in the yard of Primary School No.1 named after Ernests Birznieks-Upītis.
“The great support and activity of the population of Latvia in the Big Cleanup is a testimony that we all together are the power, we can accomplish much, and we do care about clean and tidy environment. The main thing is that the care is expressed not only in words, but in actual deeds,” emphasised President of Latvia Raimonds Vējonis.
Together with the President of Latvia, employees of the Chancery of the President of Latvia, as well as representatives of the administration of Tukums Region, and the administration of Sēme Rural District will be participating in the Big Cleanup in Tukums Region.
This year, the Big Cleanup will take place for the eleventh time in Latvia. The organisers of the Big Cleanup invite people to think and act to prevent the causes of environmental pollution, not just the consequences thereof, and to develop our understanding of the interaction between humankind and nature.
