When addressing the audience, the President of Latvia stated that the Green Certificate became a quality mark of rural tourism farms during its existence, which confirmed the ability to manage in a nature-friendly and sustainable manner and what thousands of people, both owners and guests, recognised.
“Sustainable development of Latvia is not possible without environmentally friendly farming. Every farm receiving the Green Certificate makes a significant contribution to the future of our country every day,” emphasised Raimonds Vējonis.
The President of Latvia appreciated the accomplishments made in the twenty years the Green Certificate has existed by strengthening its recognition and contribution both regarding sustainable farming and developing environmental awareness in Latvia.
When congratulating the winners of the Green Certificate in the Riga Castle, the President of Latvia thanked the farms, which received the environmental quality mark, as well as the evaluation committee and Professional Rural Tourism Association “Lauku ceļotājs” for their achievements while promoting responsible and environmentally friendly farming in Latvia.
Minister for Environmental Protection and Regional Development Juris Pūce, as well as Head of the European Commission’s Executive Agency for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises EASME LIFE and Head of the Eco-Innovation Division Angelo Salsi also took part in the ceremony in the Riga Castle.
