Valsts prezidents Raimonds Vējonis ar Ministru prezidentu Krišjāni Kariņu pārrunā valdības darba aktualitātes
On Wednesday, 30 January 2019, the first meeting of President of Latvia Raimonds Vējonis and Prime Minister Arturs Krišjānis Kariņš was held at the Riga Castle after the Saeima approved the new government on 23 January 2019.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister introduced the President of Latvia to the topical issues of the government work and informed about the deadline for submitting the draft state budget for this year to the Saeima.

After the meeting, President of Latvia Raimonds Vējonis emphasised that the drafting of this year’s state budget was a significant objective of the new government, which should be completed in parallel with other tasks mentioned in the government declaration. “At the beginning of the week, during my regional visit in Ķekava Region, entrepreneurs noted that it was crucial for the new government to continue already introduced approach when establishing a stable and predictable tax system in the country,” noted the President of Latvia.

The Prime Minister assured the President of Latvia that they did not plan to introduce any new taxes while drafting the state budget for this year.

Also during the meeting, Mr Kariņš informed the President of Latvia of the commenced preparation of a government action plan.

“Developing and approving the Government Action Plan in the Cabinet of Ministers is essential to inform the public on the manner how the government plans to implement the priorities set out in the Government Declaration and what the term is for implementation of those priorities,” stated President of Latvia Raimonds Vējonis.
