Raimonds Vējonis
President of Latvia Raimonds Vējonis and First Lady of Latvia Iveta Vējone met the participants of the project “Hello, Latvia!” in the Riga Castle today. Latvian-origin students from the USA, Canada, and Australia, stayed in Latvia for two weeks visiting Riga and several other cities and regions.

When addressing the participants of the project, the President of Latvia emphasised that they had a great opportunity to get acquainted with the nature, culture, and history of Latvia, as well as to meet outstanding personalities. “Your eyes saw Latvia; your ears heard the Latvian language, and your hearts felt the friendship and openness of the people in Latvia. These impressions will supplement the knowledge of Latvia that you have gained while visiting the Sunday schools, reading books, searching for information on the Internet, and listening to the stories of your parents and grandparents,” stated Raimonds Vējonis. He wished the project participants not to lose the ties with Latvia and come back here to study or to work.

The President of Latvia also thanked the students from the Kraslava Grammar School and Kalvene Primary School in Aizpute Region, who hosted foreign Latvian children in the framework of the project.
