On 17 August, H. E. Mrs Riitta Korpivaara, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Finland to Latvia, paid a farewell visit to the Riga Castle to meet with the President of Latvia Egils Levits. Ambassador Korpivaara received the highest state award in Latvia, the Order of the Three Stars, from President Levits for special service to Latvia and notable efforts in deepening bilateral cooperation between Latvia and Finland. Ambassador of Finland has thus become the Commander of the Order.
‘Finland and Latvia are neighbours without border. This requires a very active commitment to bilateral dialogue from a head of diplomatic mission, and you have shown an impeccable commitment. You are leaving Latvia after 5 successful years. Leaving behind many initiatives important for stronger relations between our countries, initiatives highly appreciated by Latvian people,’ President of Latvia Egils Levits said as he presented the Order to Ambassador Riitta Korpivaara.
