On May 10, at the Riga Castle, President Egils Levits presented Certificates of Merit to Dace Gardovska, Head of the Clinic of Children’s Diseases at the Children’s Clinical University Hospital, Ināra Tetereva, philanthropist, Ilze Dzērve, Honorary Lecturer and Concertmaster at Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music and Indulis Zālīte, researcher, former Head of the Centre for Documenting the Consequences of Totalitarism.
When presenting the Certificates of Merit, the President of Latvia pointed out that they are awarded to personalities who had made significant, high-value and lasting contributions in various fields of importance to the Latvian State. This Certificate of Merit reflects the gratitude and appreciation of the entire Latvian society, said E. Levits.
D. Gardovska has been awarded the Certificate of Merit for her lifelong work in pediatrics and many professional achievements in medical education and science.
I. Tetereva was awarded the Certificate of Merit for her selfless and outstanding charity work and contributions to education, science, culture, social assistance and animal protection.
I. Dzērve was awarded the Certificate of Merit for her long-standing pedagogical work in educating the young generation of musicians and lifetime achievement in Latvian piano music and culture.
The Certificate of Appreciation has been awarded to I. Zālīte for his long-standing work in documenting and researching the consequences of the activities of the Latvian occupation institutions.
