Raimonds Vējonis stressed that the Annual Awards in Medicine was particularly marked by the fact that every resident of Latvia could nominate doctors for this award, thus patients assessed by knowledge, professionalism and respect for the doctors for human health and life they have been entrusted.
At the same time, the President of Latvia called everybody to join their efforts in taking care so that the framework of the Latvian health policy would become clearer and more arranged because both patients and healthcare professionals needed accessible and high-quality healthcare.
During the ceremony, the President of Latvia presented the award “The Doctor of the Year 2016” to Dr Māris Apšvalks.
