On 27 March, President Edgars Rinkēvičs held a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland, Radosław Sikorski, at the Riga Castle to discuss bilateral relations between Poland and Latvia. The discussion primarily focused on defence, regional security issues, and support for Ukraine.
During the meeting, President Rinkēvičs emphasized the strategic role of Poland in strengthening regional security. "Poland is a strategically important partner in strengthening regional security. Latvia is grateful for Poland's participation in the Canadian-led NATO enhanced forward presence battle group in Latvia and the Baltic air policing mission," said E. Rinkēvičs.
The President of Latvia stressed that Latvia and Poland, alongside other EU and NATO member states, must continue to provide maximum support to Ukraine.
During the meeting, the current situation on the Ukrainian-Polish border and preparations for the upcoming NATO Summit in Washington were also discussed.
