On 28 July President Edgars Rinkēvičs visited Kuldīga Region. During his working visit, the President of Latvia met with woodworking and agricultural entrepreneurs, cattle farms owners of Padure and Rumba parishes. During the visit, E. Rinkēvičs also met with deputies of the Kuldīga Municipality Council and entrepreneurs of Kuldīga Region, as well as visited the Kuldīga Hospital.
"I dare to say that the picturesque Kuldīga region is the heart of Kurzeme. Today I had the opportunity to meet the hard-working and persevering entrepreneurs of the region, who with their daily work are setting a great example to others that Latvia is capable and can export goods and services with high added value. At the same time, I received first-hand feedback from the entrepreneurs of Kuldīga region on the weak business lending policy of Latvian commercial banks and the need to strengthen vocational education in the regions of Latvia. I also met and heard the concerns of Kuldīga Hospital management, doctors and nurses about the unavailability of medical services and the critical shortage of medical and support staff. I hope that soon the Old Town of Kuldīga will also be included in the UNESCO World Heritage List," said President Rinkēvičs during his visit.
At the end of his visit, the President of Latvia participated in the open-air event "Democracy Festival" organised by the Kurzeme NGO Centre and gave interviews to the media.
