On 29 January, President Edgars Rinkēvičs met with the Chairman of the hospital’s board, Valts Ābols, and Member of the board of the Princess Máxima Centre in the Netherlands, Rob Pieters. He expressed his gratitude to John Martin Tully, President of the Latvian Children’s Oncology Fund, for his invaluable support in establishing the Centre of Excellence for Precision Medicine in Paediatric Care.
“Our shared hope is to protect our children and ourselves from cancer. Our shared hope is to ensure that, in cases of cancer, we have the ability to cure it. The development of the Centre of Excellence for Precision Medicine in Paediatric Care in Latvia is a step closer to these goals. By combining the expertise and research efforts of both Latvian and international specialists, we can better understand the disease, improve diagnostics, and enhance treatment. I would like to extend my gratitude to our doctors and researchers, as well as to private donor Mr. John Martin Tully, for providing the resources and enabling a stronger partnership with Europe’s leading institution in paediatric precision medicine. Only by joining forces we can move closer to achieving the goal of curing every child with cancer while ensuring they enjoy an optimal quality of life," said President Rinkēvičs after the visit.
