Raimonds Vējonis
Opening the public debate “NATO - from Warsaw to Brussels. The future of the Alliance and the enhanced Forward Presence in the Baltic States and Poland”, President of Latvia Raimonds Vējonis reminded today that we should highly appreciate NATO's solidarity with the Baltic States in the context of the current global security challenges.

The enhanced Forward Presence in the region constitutes a convincing deterrent against Russia. Maintaining a dialogue is equally important that would allow for a better, secure, and more predictable relationship with Russia.

“Our commitment to increase the European defence spending is of equal significance as it will also strengthen NATO,” said the President of Latvia. “We all must do more. Latvia is ready to do more.”
