President of Latvia Egils Levits visited the National Defence Academy of Latvia (NDA) on 13 January.
‘National Defence Academy of Latvia is one of key national defence institutions. I am deeply grateful to all the young cadets and officers who have decided to spend their life working for the national defence, ready to put their lives at risk for it, if necessary. National Defence Academy offers young cadets a 21st-century training and education. Russian aggression against Ukraine has clearly shown how important it is go through professional training. We are very proud of what our soldiers have achieved,’ President of Latvia Egils Levits said.
Visit to NDA included meeting between President Levits and Lt Col Māris Urtāns, NDA rector, head of Training and Education Command, and Lt Gen Leonīds Kalniņš, Chief of the Defence Staff, on how NDA operates. President of Latvia then visited Training and Education Command Wellness Centre opened by NDA in 2022. Egils Levits also met with NDA cadets to talk about international exchange experiences of future troops.
President of Latvia Egils Levits also presented NDA administration a presidential plaque for Academy’s role in strengthening national defence system.
