“Climate change is one of today’s greatest risks to geopolitical stability and security. We can mitigate climate change, shape resilience against the impact it poses, and to reduce the risks of climate change only by combining forces and actively working both at the national and international level,” stressed President of Latvia Raimonds Vējonis

during his meeting with HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco.

“To promote energy security and reduce the risks associated with it, Latvia and the Baltic States have created opportunities for alternative energy supplies and competition in energy markets in a short period of time. Further measures to strengthen energy security will be linked to the development of renewables and the use of local resources,” outline the President of Latvia.

During the meeting, the President of Latvia expressed the interest of Latvia to cooperate more closely at bilateral level, transferring best practice in innovative solutions for the production of renewables and the use of smart technologies for reducing energy consumption in sustainable cities.

President of Latvia Raimonds Vējonis pays a working visit to Monaco from May 31 to June 2, 2018. During the visit, the President of Latvia will address the Energy Security Forum in Monaco on Friday, 1 June 2018.
