On 30 July 2019, during a visit to the training camp “Meža Mackeviči” in Daugavpils Region, President of Latvia Egils Levits met with soldiers and battalion instructors of the 3rd Latgale Brigade of the National Guard.
During the meeting, Egils Levits thanked everyone who was ready to invest their time, strength, and wisdom to strengthen defence of Latvia.
The President of Latvia also outlined that the families of the soldiers were huge support to the soldiers because being away from their loved ones in their spare time was not easy. “You can be assured that you will each increase the security of our country, your region, your family, and friends as volunteer national guards significantly,” stated the President of Latvia.
Egils Levits also acknowledged that he highly appreciated the participation of the National Armed Forces in the improvement of the National Guard, as well as the professional knowledge of the soldiers and national guards of the 3rd Latgale Brigade of the National Guard, which were highly valued in Latvia and abroad.
