On 7 November, President Edgars Rinkēvičs met with representatives of the Farmers' Union, cooperative societies "Mūsmāju dārzeņi" and "Baltijas dārzeņi", the Latvian Agricultural Organization Cooperation Council, and the Latvian Fruit Growers Association in the Riga Castle.
During the meeting, representatives of Latvian farmers' organisations expressed to the President their position and opinion on the need to maintain the reduced 5% value-added tax rate for Latvia-grown fruit, berries, and vegetables.
President Rinkēvičs called for a constructive dialogue between Latvian farmers' organisations and the government in order to find a mutually acceptable solution regarding the value-added tax rate for Latvia-grown fruit, berries, and vegetables.
