On 3 November, President Edgars Rinkēvičs met with Aigars Rostovskis, President of the Latvian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), and Jānis Endziņš, Chairman of the Board, in the Riga Castle to discuss issues of topical interest to entrepreneurs.
During the meeting, President Rinkēvičs discussed with the representatives of the Latvian Chamber of Commerce and Industry the five challenges raised by the organisation - excessive bureaucracy, lack of access to finance, labour shortage, the need for an energy strategy, as well as possible improvements to the tax system.
"There are undeniably important challenges and unfinished "homework" on the state side to ensure the preconditions for reaching the average European level of prosperity. But business has an equally important role to play. Talking about problems in the abstract will not lead to concrete solutions. The Latvian Chamber of Commerce and Industry is a good platform for concrete proposals, and businesses should actively use it," said E. Rinkēvičs.
