On 8 October, President Edgars Rinkēvičs met with representatives of the Foreign Investors Council in Latvia (FICIL) at the Riga Castle to discuss the recommendations proposed by the FICIL to the government for raising Latvia's competitiveness, attracting investment and improving the business environment.
The discussion paid particular attention to issues related to the effectiveness of public administration. President Rinkēvičs expressed support for the FICIL vision representatives of a result-oriented rather than process-oriented public administration that serves to the benefit of residents and businesses. Both sides agreed that further efforts are needed to evaluate and enhance the management and oversight system of state and municipal capital companies.
The meeting also covered the promotion of research and innovation in Latvia. The President was also presented with a proposal by FICIL to establish a special defence fund.
